Waldorf Cambridge is a growing, non-selective, co-educational independent school and is part of the Waldorf UK.
We provide a dynamic and progressive education for children aged 2 to 16 years. Situated on a single site, located on the outskirts of Cambridge in the delightful village of Fulbourn, we welcome children from all over Cambridgeshire and beyond.
We strive to give children the gift of an education that will nourish the whole life of the child. To this end, the academic, social, moral, and spiritual growth of every child is held as a central objective of our education. Children’s capacities and personal abilities are helped to unfold by providing them with a rich and carefully planned curriculum that enhances their own natural developmental growth.

A Smartphone-Free School Environment At our school, we follow the Waldorf tradition of creating a smartphone-free environment, and we do not use computers in the Lower and Middle School years. We believe childhood is a time for developing imagination, focus, movement, creativity, and real human connection. By protecting this space from digital distraction, we allow children to engage deeply with their learning, their peers, and the world around them. Technology has its place but in these formative years, we prioritise hands-on experiences, artistic work, outdoor play, and meaningful relationships. Have you seen the recent Guardian article by Dr Rangan Chatterjee on screen time and mental health? The well-known GP, author and podcaster describes the failure to regulate big tech as "failing a generation of children" and calls screen overuse "the most urgent public health issue." He even advocates banning screen-based homework and delaying social media access until 18. It's an important conversation and one that deeply resonates with our educational approach. Why Handwork Matters Handwork is so much more than making something beautiful it lays important foundations for academic learning. Through activities such as crocheting, children develop fine motor skills that directly support handwriting, strengthen number sense and pattern awareness linked to maths, and build spatial awareness, sequencing skills, and concentration. Handwork also nurtures perseverance, patience, attention span, and focus qualities that carry across into every area of learning. When a child works steadily towards completing a project over time, they experience the deep satisfaction of effort leading to achievement. We are so proud of our Class 3 children, many of whom have now completed their main handwork project of the year a beautifully crocheted hat! And for some, finishing one wasn't enough... they were so inspired that they launched straight into a second project and created delightful kitten-ear hats as well. Creativity, resilience, and joy in learning all in a single ball of yarn. #waldorfcambridge #waldorfuk #waldorfcurriculum #wearewaldorf #handwork #crocheting #knitting #crochetedhat

Class 2 Play – A Magical Sharing On February 11, our Class 2 Acacia children proudly performed The King of Ireland's Son for their families and the wider community. Rooted in a rich Irish tale of courage, kindness, and perseverance, the story came to life through song, flute music, and heartfelt performance. All twelve children worked with dedication in the weeks leading up to the play, with many bravely taking on two roles. It was a joyful milestone for the class and a beautiful celebration of their growing confidence and commitment. #waldorfcambridge #waldorfuk #waldorfcurriculum #wearewaldorf #waldorfschool #waldorfdrama #classplay #thekingofirelandsson
