"Moving from London to Cambridge has been one of the best decisions we’ve made. We were initially drawn by the promise of more space, a slower pace of life, and most importantly, a Waldorf school and Cambridge has delivered on all fronts.
One of the biggest changes for us has been the quality of day-to-day life. Everything feels more manageable here. We’ve swapped long commutes and constant noise for green spaces, bike rides, and a real sense of community. The city itself is beautiful, but what’s equally appealing is how easy it is to get out into the surrounding villages and countryside.
When looking for places to live, there’s something for everyone - whether you want to be close to the city centre or prefer village life. Places like Chesterton, Trumpington, and Cherry Hinton offer great access to the city, while villages such as Histon, Great Shelford, or Great Wilbraham provide a quieter, more rural feel without being cut off. All still close to the school. We went for Sawston at first and then last year we moved to Bottisham which is only a 10 min drive from the school and a beautiful little village.
The transition for our children was something we were naturally nervous about, but they adapted far more quickly than we expected. The school is so very welcoming, and there’s a strong sense of community among families and the children are so welcoming to newcomers too. Within a few weeks, they had settled in, made friends, and were enjoying a level of living that simply wasn’t possible in London.
When the school gates open, our daughters run to their classroom - they cannot wait to get to school because they love it so much.
Overall, Cambridge offers a wonderful balance: it’s vibrant and family-friendly, rich with history and culture with loads of fab restaurants! If you’re considering a move, we’d absolutely recommend it - it’s a place where families can really thrive."
